SUNNYVALE — Authorities have identified the woman killed in a crash on Highway 101 early Friday that led to the arrest of the driver on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving.

Vanessa Danilloff, 30, of Sunnyvale, was one of five people traveling northbound in a Honda Accord just before 2 a.m. when the car went off the left shoulder of the Lawrence Expressway offramp, tumbled down an embankment and landed on its roof, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Danilloff died at the scene. Three other passengers, a 23-year-old woman and two men ages 25 and 44, all from San Jose, were taken to local hospitals with minor to moderate injuries. No one in the car was wearing a seat belt, the CHP said.

The driver, Edwardo Jaime Jr., 34, of San Jose, was treated for cuts at the hospital and then was booked into the Santa Clara County jail, where he is being held on $350,000 bail. The CHP believes speed and alcohol use were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
