Cardinals Fly to Title

The Cupertino National Little League’s major division championship went down to the wire, with the Cardinals beating the Giants in the last two games of the best-of-three playoff. After the Giants won the opener 8-7, the Cards bounced back 2-0 in game 2 as pitcher Tate Boynton twirled a complete game, seven-strikeout effort, and then won 6-2 in the finale behind Willy Liou’s towering two-run home run. In the Tournament of Champions, the Cardinals lost a tough 12-10 decision to the Santa Clara Homestead Royals.
