Mario Dianda has been named Editor/Community Newspapers for the Bay Area News Group.

Dianda has been the editor of the Palo Alto Daily News, and will retain overall responsibility for the news report for that paper while assuming editorial leadership for Silicon Valley Community Newspapers, replacing Executive Editor Dale Bryant, who is retiring.

An experienced Bay Area journalist, Dianda has worked as assistant city editor for the Peninsula Times Tribune, city editor for the Daily Review in Hayward, regional editor for the Alameda Newspaper Group and editor of the Oakland Tribune.

He recently oversaw the conversion of The Daily News from a daily to a weekly focusing on hyperlocal reporting for Palo Alto and Menlo Park.

“I’m looking forward to working with a staff that is so dedicated to covering the news in their communities and want to continue their mission of providing fair, accurate and compelling coverage of local news, sports and entertainment,” Dianda said of his new responsibilities.

Silicon Valley Community Newspapers publishes nine local community newspapers, including the Los Gatos Weekly-Times, Saratoga News, Cupertino Courier, Sunnyvale Sun, Campbell Reporter, Willow Glen Resident, Rose Garden Resident, Almaden Resident and the Cambrian Resident.
