Aiswarya Sankar pulled out a tough three-set win at No. 1 singles, but that was the only win the Monta Vista girls tennis team could manage last week in a match against powerhouse Saratoga.

Sankar won 0-6, 7-5, 10-8 in the singles top spot, but the Falcons won every other match contested to nail a 6-1 win over the Matadors.

Saratoga improved to 9-0 in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League with the win while Monta Vista slipped to 7-2. The Mats are 12-7 overall this year and the Falcons are 16-1.

In other De Anza Division play, Sneha Padmanabha and Annie Duan won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to lead Lynbrook to a 6-1 win over Los Gatos. The Vikings are 4-5 in the divison and 7-7 overall.

Homestead evened its league record at 4-4 and pushed its season mark to 10-8 with a 6-1 win over Gunn. Alisha Parikh won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.

In El Camino action, Tania Kabiraj nailed a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, but Cupertino lost a 4-3 heartbreaker to Mountain View. The Pioneers are 3-4 in the division and 13-5 for the year.

Palo Alto is cruising to the El Camino title with a 9-0 record. The Vikings whipped Wilcox 6-1 last week.
