SUNNYVALE — An 87-year-old woman died when she was hit by a car while walking across South Mary Avenue on Wednesday night, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

Linshu Ye, of Sunnyvale, was crossing South Mary near Rockefeller Drive just after 9 p.m. when a car hit her, Capt. Jeffrey Plecque said.

Plecque said it did not appear that Ye was in a crosswalk when the collision occurred. The driver stopped at the scene and was not cited or arrested.

The death remains under investigation.
