SUNNYVALE — A series of gold chain necklace robberies over the past four months have police asking for the public’s help finding the people behind the thefts.

Since May, Sunnyvale police have investigated roughly 15 chain-snatch robberies in which suspects have walked toward or behind a person before grabbing their necklaces and running off, police said.

In at least two instances, police added, a gun was shown during the theft.

Police did not provide detailed descriptions of the suspects, but said that based upon similar descriptions, investigators believe a group of associated suspects are committing the crimes.

The suspect may be using multiple cars and working with other people in the area to identify their victims. The victims have been primarily women but at least one known case has been a male victim, according to police.

Anyone with information on the incidents can call Detective Alan Harnett at 408-730-7138.
