SUNNYVALE — A woman was seriously injured after she was hit by a car Tuesday afternoon while crossing El Camino Real, police said.
Officers and paramedics responded to the intersection of El Camino Real and Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road around 2:54 p.m. for reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.
When crews arrived, they found a 68-year-old woman who had been crossing the road when she was hit by a car that was turning eastbound from Sunnyvale Avenue. The woman sustained serious head injuries and was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for treatment.
Police said they are trying to figure out if the woman was in the crosswalk when she was hit by the vehicle. Police said the driver of the car remained on scene and was not cited or arrested.
