Baseball camp

A Winter Break Youth Baseball Camp for players ages 6-14 will be held at the Los Gatos High School baseball facility on Feb. 16-20, 9 a.m.-noon each day. The camp will feature hitting and fielding instructions and drills and players will be grouped by age and ability. The camp will be directed by head coach Nate Anderson and staffed by Los Gatos coaches and players.

The cost is $250 (if registered by Jan. 1, $300 after that) for the week or $75 per day. Players should bring gloves, cleats, sneakers (for the cages), water bottles, bats and helmets (if you have them). Catchers should bring their own gear. Quito camps

The Quito Little League will partner with the West Valley College baseball program to offer a three-day pre-tryout winter skills baseball camp at the Quito fields on Jan. 2-4, 9 a.m.-noon each day, for players ages 5-12. West Valley coach Rick Wiens, along with his coaching staff and players, will lead the camp. The cost is $150 per player.

Quito will also offer a two-hour throwing clinic on Dec. 21, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., that will feature former Cal State Fullerton pitcher Tim Dixon, who helped the Titans win the 1995 College World Series. Dixon, a former professional player and Division I pitching coach, will present the Jaeger Throwing System at the clinic that will focus on arm conditioning, arm strengthening drills and the mental relationship with practice. The cost is $110 and includes a set of Jaeger Throwing Bands.

Spartan camps

San Jose State University will host the Spartans High School Instruction and Prospect Camps on Jan. 17-18 and Jan. 24-25 at Blethen Field. Camps include: pitching skill instruction, Jan. 17-18, 9-11 a.m.; catching skill instruction, Jan. 17-18, 9-11 a.m.; infield skill instruction, Jan. 24-25, 9-11 a.m.; and hitting skill instruction, Jan. 17-18 and Jan. 24-25, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Baseball program

De Anza College baseball coach Erick Raich will direct a baseball throwing program for both pitchers and position players in January. The Combat Velocity Program (combatpitching.com) will run Jan. 3-31, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. at the Cupertino Sports Center and Saturdays at noon at De Anza College.
