Nightlife here in Sunnyvale is primarily concentrated near the downtown area with a variety of lounges, bars, karaoke clubs and nightclubs. Local favorites and hip and urbane clubs feature DJs, dance nights and late night entertainment.

Lounges

Lounges are good when you want more late night entertainment than a straight-up bar. Some lounges feature a dance floor, and themed entertainment. The lounges in Sunnyvale have a variety of entertainment including karaoke, dance floors, and DJ. The Lounge, Peacock Lounge, and Pure Lounge are some of the late night venues in town.

Dance clubs

A good DJ, a trendy crowd, and a great selection of songs are what make dance clubs the best late night places to hang out in. Sunnyvale’s popular dance clubs bring in local residents and visitors from nearby towns.  French Quarter Cabaret was among the most highly rated dance clubs in the area serving Southern food and good R&B. Other clubs listed are Club Barcelona and Palladium.

For a spicy night of ballroom or Latin dancing try Ballroom Connection on 1111 W. El Camino Real #219. It offers merchandise as well so you can learn in the right gear, not to mention CDs containing proper music to practice to. The owner is a competitive dancer, so you know you're going to the right place.

Bars

Between the many varieties of bars in Sunnyvale, you’ll find neighborhood joints, dive bars, breweries, and sports bars all over the city. Sunnyvale’s dive bars offer friendly areas to hang out in, meet friends or make new ones: Beefy’s Cabin, Blue Max, Bogart’s Lounge and Tech Pub, Paul & Harvey, The Patio Bar, The Oasis, and Murphy’s Law. Keeping up with your favorite game requires a good sports bar with friendly staff and fun-loving patrons. Sports bars are usually the best for watching a game with friends and commiserating when the scores don’t quite make the cut. Blue Max, Peacock Lounge, Plan B Pub, Blue Bonnet Bar are the places to go, and if you want some hearty food, Black Angus Steakhouse is another popular sports bar in Sunnyvale.

Live Music

There’s nothing quite like listening to live music. It’s like being in a different place, in the midst of the action. The beat, the unique way music and audience mix rarely get much better than being in an intimate venue. Some bars in Sunnyvale feature live music by local bands on certain nights.  Quarter Note Bar, Murphy’s Law, Faultline Brewing Company, and Club Bahia are some of the bars in Sunnyvale where you can catch live music.

Karaoke Clubs

For the singer in you, Sunnyvale’s Karaoke joints are the places where you can lose yourself to the music – in the company of friends. For the brave rock stars amongst you, you can choose an open stage or, if you prefer to practice before you go on stage, the privacy of an enclosed booth is a great way to flex those vocal cords. Pebble Roppongi is a lounge with Karaoke and a full bar. Bogart's Lounge & Tech Pub, Blue Max, The X Bar at Homestead Lanes, Normandy House Lounge, and King of Clubs are karaoke bars. For a more private experience you can try Gamba Karaoke or the Music Tunnel.

Sunnyvale has plenty of places to go at night, and we've only scratched the surface with this list. There's something for everyone, so don't be afraid to hit South Murphy Street or El Camino Real, because you may discover a happening spot in this beautiful area. Sunnyvale has everything for the adventurous.
