The city of Sunnyvale is at the heart of Silicon Valley. The clean, safe, and beautiful city offers residents and visitors a choice of events throughout the calendar year to celebrate local anniversaries and festivals. Residents can enjoy the Art & Wine Festival, the Summer Music Series, a holiday lighting ceremony near Christmas, and other more intimate and seasonal events.

The annual Art & Wine Festival takes place in Sunnyvale. The event is hosted by the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce. The wine makers of local California wineries converge on Sunnyvale to showcase their latest creations, divine stock, and sample wines for the population to enjoy. Some local breweries also bring out their beer stock for tasting but alcohol is only one of the attractions at this event. There's also great food and fun for children. The festival is usually held in the beginning of June in the newly revamped downtown area.

The Sunnyvale Summer Music Series is another downtown Sunnyvale annual event. On Historic Murphy Avenue in the summer heat, residents and guests to the city can revel in rock, jazz, Latin, funk, and many other styles of music over many  weekends. Styled like a block party, this event offers beer for sale, outdoor seating, and a variety of local and out of town bands for two months: July and August.

While the previous two festivals may appear to be geared towards the adult population of Sunnyvale, there's one event held annually that entertains children as much as it does the adults. The Hands on the Art Festival lives up to its name: it allows guests to dip their hands into artistic work. This event offers kids a chance to work alongside a professional artist and experience art in a supportive and educational manner. The day-long festival gives children from kindergarten to the eighth grade a full day to hone their skills as a painter. They will dabble in different styles of artwork, genres, and applications. They'll learn techniques and put them to use. Parents of the participating students can enjoy day-long entertainment, food and fun as well.

Sunnyvale offers many different seasonal events throughout the year, refined cultural events perfect for the location, and educational events for children to learn and parents to unwind at. In a city dubbed the Heart of Silicon Valley, it's to be expected that it has some of the most engaging events in the area.
